Lots of time playing with Sevin. On the water.
Semi retired from the DJ scene. And getting back into my computer art big time.
Oh and back into my car. A reproduction 1955 Porsche 356 Speedster.
I let it go…kind of. But now I am rebuilding it from the ground up.
Every part is new.
She’s gonna be a beauty.
So my art has shifted onto a mechanical canvas. but look at it ….and tell me it’s not art!
More….sooner than last time.

Pixels are cool!
Big blocky pixels. Not a curve in sight.
The building blocks for my latest direction in art.
Or should I say…my earliest direction…reborn.
My first foray into Computer Art was back in the mid 80’s.
I used an Amiga Computer.
320×200 resolution. 16 colors.
High tech.
No kidding…it really was.
Andy (Warhol) used one too!
I’d blow the tiny 4 inch prints up by 400% or more depending on the application.
Back then there were no big ink jet (giclée) printers.
So if I wanted to reproduce a big work on canvas I had to hand paint it…..which is what I did for several years.
My style changed as I started using less blocks and more lines.
But now the Blocks are Back!
I have started reproducing my computer art on a state of the art 72 inch wide Epson ink jet printer and the results are awesome.
This is my first large piece. It’s called “Pixels 1.0″ ……… what did you think it would be called?
There will me many more to follow.

Sevin sets sail!

This probably should be called “On the Mast” and not on the easel.
Yes, my latest work is being applied to a windsurf sail. And not just any old sail, but a lovely new Hot Sails Super Freak 5.0m. Thanks to the unique use of Dacron in it’s construction, the Super Freak lends itself to being painted on and withstanding the rigors of water use.
I am using a selection of graffiti pens to apply the design which will ensure that the art does not end up as a runny mess.
When finished, later this week, it will join my quiver of hand painted water toys which include my Naish wave board and recently completed ArcLight stand up paddle board.
Hopefully the wind will still be around so that Sevin and I can go play with our new sail. Yes of course he is a windsurf dog and loves to get out with me whenever he can.

I’ll post pictures of the completed sail in the next day or so and follow that up with some on water videos very soon.

Sevin gets on board!

It seems like a long time since I updated this section of my site. That’s because it has been. In fact it is fair to say that I’ve taken a sabbatical from painting over the last 12 months.
I wish I could pin point what caused this time out but let’s just say that life just sent me in a direction that kept me out of the studio for a while.
On reflection I believe that it had more to do with a need to find myself and translate that into a new artistic direction than having other things occupy my time and mind.
I know that it originated with my leaving both my galleries and having nowhere to display my work. Even the many paintings that had been started were left unfinished as I looked towards other areas in my life to provide the stimulation and joy that my studio offered me.
During this time I have been very occupied with my beloved dog Sevin. We spend countless hours each day swimming, hiking and stand up paddling. And it is the later that has got me to return to the studio in the shape of a new SUP board.
So the easel is replaced with a couple of saw horses as I return to painting with a custom shaped SUP board as my canvas.
More to come on this project in the next week or so……

I am really pleased to announce the opening of my new apparel and merchandise store.

For over 25 years I have designed clothing for sports and sportswear companies of every kind.
My colorful artistic approach to clothing design placed me at the forefront of the
sportswear industry during the late 80’s and early 90’s.
My unique clothing could be seen on mountains, beaches, race tracks and fairways
all round the world.

Now I’m back with a new line of sports related clothing.
And my style couldn’t be more modern, as the fashion trend returns to the 80’s.
So if you missed it first time round.
Here is Ray Masters at his best. My most colorful. My most humorous.

I made this promotional video back in 1990.
My friends came over and did the model thing in my back yard in Florida.
We shot the printing stuff at my silk screeners place then I edited it all together at my bro’s video facility, Masters Communication in San Pedro, California.
Thanks to my buddy, the famous Greg Stump, for the ski footage.
The clothing you see is a mix of my work for Elho Brunner, Ellesse, Wilson Sports and other companies.

This is my first major release CD cover and to have been chosen by one of the top new generation jazz trumpet players for his first album art is very special.

Not only has Mark used my art on the cover but the Trumpetman character also appears on the CD itself together with lots of publicity materials.
